"The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which"

Humiliation for Nigel Farage as four Brexit Party MEPs quit to back Conservatives

Four Brexit Party MEPs have handed in their resignations in order to back the Conservatives at the general election.

Annunziata Rees-Mogg, Lance Forman, John Longworth and Lucy Harris said only the Tories could be trusted to deliver Brexit.

The move is a shattering blow for Nigel Farage, who has seen his party's poll rating plummet throughout the election campaign.

Four Brexit Party MEPs quit 'disappointed' Nigel Farage's party with days until vote

PUBLISHED: 10:24 05 December 2019 | UPDATED: 11:28 05 December 2019

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which"As if it wasn't obvious before, the Tory party have completely morphed into the Brexit Party. They are now not just stealing policies, they're also taking people.

"It's clear that a vote for the Conservatives or the Brexit Party means the hardest form of Brexit possible, leading to economic chaos."

"The only way to stop that outcome is to vote tactically, supporting the candidate with the best chance of beating the Tories or the Brexit Party." A spokesperson for the Brexit Party singled out Longworth and Rees-Mogg for an apparent pro-Tory bias, adding: "We also note that one of the MEPs is the sister of a Cabinet Minister, another has a partner who works in the office of the same Cabinet Minister and yet another is a personal friend of both Boris Johnson and Michael Gove."[/quote]

You'd think they might have spotted that a week or so before their election.

As for La Mogg, it's quite consistent with a pattern of living life as one long uncompleted internship.

Has it entered Claire's mind that immigration is not an existential issue for many people? Even Brexiters who've "nothing against them as long as they work." And if greater automation and skills training led to fall in demand for migrant labour then good but I couldn't give much of a toss either way. The coin falls where it falls.

I tried that, and my brain went into that state when you try and contemplate the size of the universe, or an electronic calculator is asked 1÷0.

But in other news... The Brexit Party is dead, long live The Reform Party.

Do a quick concept analysis on 'Bigotry against others' opinions is an assault on freedom'.

I've heard similar, if not identical, from a born again chap I once worked with.

Apparently, my preference for evidence, empiricism and all that jazz was merely "cultural supremacism" and "intellectual snobbery" versus his gut feelings and ancient book of stories.

He was, as appears to be the case here, thicker than a whale butty.

Racism in key Brexit Party campaign

Undercover filming inside the Brexit Party reveals racism and bigotry from two officials fighting for key Hartlepool seat.
An undercover Channel 4 News investigation has exposed shocking racism and prejudice inside Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party by central figures campaigning to win the key target seat of Hartlepool.

Party activists in the campaign to elect Brexit Party chairman Richard Tice to Parliament were caught on camera using a series of offensive slurs against Muslims, black people, Pakistanis and Turks.

That there are parts of the country, particularly in the North, that are seething with racist scum? Well, there's a surprise.

Socialism for these 50-somethings and older only ever meant equality and a fair deal for PLU. The only surprise is that it has taken the tories so long to work out that they are willing cannon fodder. Sunderland 2016 tells us everything we need to know.

The populist hard right gets that in most countries by advocating leftist interventionist economics and pro-welfare policies with their nativism. The problem for English nationalists is their point of reference is Victorian free market liberalism when Blighty made the rules and the colonies followed. See also Geert Wilders.

A bigger problem for the Tories as that Brexit guy on the film doing a bit of coke dealing demonstrates is that English working class social conservatism doesn’t stem much beyond casual racism, xenophobia and battering nonces.

As well as the lost deposits, these fucksticks had also paid Uncle Nigel a non-refundable hundred quid charge for the privilege of being Brexit plc candidates at the election. At least the ones due to stand in Tory held seats dodged a £500 bullet.
