Far-right Pegida group plans UK rally in Newcastle

While not technically a UK group, we'll see where this one goes.

I can understand people's concern (I am sure Wahhabism has crept in Europe including the UK). However I fear the simple rhetoric of modern politics is not enough to allay fear.

The only immigrant group of any significant weight in Newcastle is Norwegians from the pre-oil era, and they were made so welcome that the Norwegian government still sends the city a Christmas tree every year. It's hardly in any danger of becoming an ISIS stronghold any time soon.

British politics has laid the ground for Pegida
David Wearing

With the far-right movement planning a rally in Newcastle, we should reflect on how Muslims have been scapegoated by our press and politicians

And the craziest shit is that islam is going to battle with its two main flavours, i.e. shia v sunni.

Christ, I have just seen a journalist in Lebanon ask a Hezbollah official why Hezbollah cannot find unity with IS.

The moustache was added to the photo later, apparently - but “No one would have believed me at that moment.”

Lying little scroat. He denounced the press at liars at every turn yet and didn't call out the photo when he had every chance to deny it. Why? Because he didn't think of it at the time.

Anti-Muslim Group Pegida Massively Outnumbered By Opponents At First UK Rally

The German-born movement held its first British rally in Newcastle today. A counter-demonstration outnumbered Pegida’s supporters by at least five to one.

NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE – The German movement Pegida (Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West) held its first demonstration in the UK today, countered by a coalition of religious leaders, politicians, trade unions, and locals that outnumbered Pegida’s supporters by at least five to one.

Paul Weston, chair of Liberty GB and a speaker at the Pegida rally, which was held in Newcastle’s Bigg Market, claimed that 300 people were in attendance to oppose what they perceived as the encroaching Islamisation of the United Kingdom. Organisers of the Newcastle Unites counter-protest claimed that 1,500 people or more attended their rally. Northumbria police subsequently estimated the figures at 375 and 2,000 respectively....
