I know that Newsthump is a satirical news website, but I do wonder if whoever wrote this piece realises it's less like satire and more like the truth?
DUP bloody loving opportunity to make threats and feel important

The DUP is secretly over the moon about the whole Northern Ireland backstop issue because it gives them a chance to do what they love best – throw their weight around and intimidate others.

Wow. Credible?

Don't get carried away though. The DUP could hold as many as 9 seats, even with this result. But they wouldn't get Lady Hermon's seat, as they would have probably hoped.

Comments welcomed from our Northern Irish correspondents.

In the meantime, some interesting speculation here and BTL.

Credible? Probably. Alliance's tails are up after two quite successful election runs earlier this year. However, transferring that to Westminster seats is another issue entirely. The STV elections allow for a large amount of leeway as to whom you vote for. But for FPTP it's largely a sectarian head count of us v them, and outside of East Belfast they're largely outside the shuffle.

It's a sign that if a snap GE is going to be called, Sinn Fein might entertain the idea of not fighting to retain their Westminster constituencies on a provision of an agreement with "other progressive parties" which in this case would likely include the SDLP, Alliance & NI Greens, to field a single Anti No Deal Brexit candidate in the 18 NI Constituencies against the DUP and any other candidate backing "No deal", the likely hood being that as a one-off, Sinn Fein would "step aside" from fielding any candidates to allow someone from another party in the pact to represent them all, with SF calling on its supporters to back the unity candidate.

It would be a significant manovure for the Shinners doing so, they'd be accepting that such an election for Westminster would mean every single seat in the House of Commons actually mattering, whilst not breaking their abstentionist policy. It's not something that doesn't have risks for them, but while their current policy of standing back and let the DUP show themselves up has so far been OK for them, and some point they know they actually have to start getting their hands dirty. A 2-Viagra strength Hard Brexit could see a backlash among many communities along both sides of the border, especially on the northern side if it was seen that SF done nothing of note to prevent it. It's perhaps the stiffest challenge they might meet since the GFA was signed.

(I once read how Viagra works. It looks positively dangerous.)

I actually could see the Shinners doing that. That being said, they can't exactly make many wrong moves here for their own aims.

The DUP can spin anything they oppose into a Fenian plot so it makes sense for SF to fall back to centrists and non sectarian parties to execute the heavy lifting.

Some cracking puns following this news story.

Sophisticated' £50,000 cannabis factory found in Orange Order-owned properties in Co Tyrone.

* The hash my father stored.
* Battle of the bong.
* cash for hash.

And plenty more below.
