Le Figaro saying four dead. Not sure about that. Le Monde says two, so does Ouest France.
All agreed that the shooter was 'fiché S' - on a terrorist watchlist.

As it happens - no. Local chickens recently decimated.

But neighbour was in this morning complaining that Patrice had been manuring his fields next to her place with a mix of cow and chicken shit - he raises poultry as well as dairy - and she hadn't been able to go out of the house for three days.

It's illegal, of course, but this is Normandy.

We do have some pretty excellent free-range eggs from another neighbour, though.

Not politics, but a heartbreaking story from France...

"A major operation to tackle the blaze is under way at the 850-year-old Gothic building, but the cathedral's spire has collapsed."

Absolutely heartbreaking. Tragic, a moment where nearly a millenia of human history was lost.

It also shows how quickly these buildings which seem like they will last forever can be lost for good, this has happened in just over 2 hours. Treasure them, for they may not be there tomorrow.
