A general thought. I wondered at the time how a "Political Declaration" could be squared with the legendarily perfidious Albion, and especially, the particular acreage of arsewipe which manifests itself as the present tory party - an egregious ensemble of rogues, cheats, liars and self-interested thieves who believe that parliamentary democracy means that it is their turn to do whatever they can get away with. That thought occurred to me during May's tenure.
Now, I realise that the E.U. had no realistic prospect of agreeing to anything other than a "declaration" when more concret,e broader or, indeed, comprehensive had been agreed.
The signs are now that the PD is not worth the paper it is written on. The refusal to extend the transition, the aggressive sabre-rattling and the sheer venom of the "winners" suggests that most bets and certainly all goodwill are off.
I see no alternative outcome. An extreme and ultimate Brexit beckons, along with everything that that entails.
Jack believed in the inherent goodness of humanity, and felt a deep social responsibility to protect that. Through us all, Jack marches on.
