Along with their obvious online porn zero tolerance, don't they have a anti-US extradition campaign thingy? Right on.

@wikileaks pro tip: voluntarily choosing to reside in the embassy is not "imprisonment".

Assange's latest conspiracy theory is that the Guardian's 'Person of the year' poll was skewed in favour of Malala Youasafzi, "a 14-year-old girl reportedly shot in the head by the Taliban who has been exploited by the pro-war lobby." Despite the newspaper's alleged support for Malala, she finished second in the poll to Assange's preferred candidate, Bradley Manning. According to Assange, the Guardian only allowed Manning to be nominated in the first place because it thought he had no chance of winning; and his victory confirmed how out of touch the Guardian is in its "UK bubbleverse".

That tweet was pathetic, a pathetic attempt to undermine her bravery and the terrible violence committed against her just to fuel a further pathetic vendetta against the Guardian. I mean, for fuck’s sake.

Bradley Manning is in jail, suffering terrible privations for taking a stand too.

Julian Assange is in the Ecuadorian Embassy hiding away from rape and sexual assault allegations.

Just when you thought he was forgotten about, the loathsome Assange has raised his profile yet again with his appeal to the UN panel that he is being arbitraily detained. Astonishingly, the panel seems to be agreeing that he is. Not for the first time, I'm again a little bewildered as to how voluntarily residing in the Ecuadorean embassy can be deemed to be detention of any kind, arbitrary or otherwise.

I'm starting to hope that the arrogant little fucker stays in there until they carry him out in a box.

Surely if he's the decent guy he claims he is he'll be forwarding the compensation to the people whose lives he put at risk with his actions. Wonder if he'll apologise to Chelsea Manning for the way she's been treated while he's been swanning about in the Embassy?

I fear that for some, Assange will become a Tony Martin - the details of why he's in the shit becoming less important than what he represents.

For the conspiracy theorists, he's a symbol of defiance of the new world order, the guy who shone a light into dark places, and now 'they' are doing everything they can to shut him up. Of course, it's a bit pointless noting that the NWO/world government/neocon conspiracy are being awfully even handed and patient about this. After all, why don't they just send in a hit squad or something?

For the Russians and anyone else with a perceived grudge against 'the west', his case is a prime example of the nefarious duplicity of the Anglosphere. Or something. To which I say, whatever your gripes about the current world order, just wait until the Chinese are running the show.

Freeing Julian Assange: John Pilger On The Final Chapter

After five years of fighting to clear his name – having been smeared relentlessly yet charged with no crime – Assange is closer to justice and vindication, and perhaps freedom, than at any time since he was arrested and held in London under a European Extradition Warrant, itself now discredited by Parliament. https://newmatilda.com/2016/02/05/freei ... l-chapter/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Am I missing something here. Pilger is quite right Assange has not been charged with any crime, what is Assange trying to clear his name over?

Discredited by who in parliament, Jacob Rees-Mogg?

Pilger's an arse. He'll defend any regime, no matter how appalling, as long as it's anti-western.

It's another example of falling into the trap of wanting things not to be true instead of them actually being not true as referenced earlier with the Tony Martin scenario. He hasn't been charged with sexual assault in Sweden because he needs to be arrested by Swedish officers first, which he would have been had he not scarpered to the embassy.
