The mess from Gaddafi and veering to the hard right in what's still an inherently left leaning country. Wish I had a nice bottle of white Bordeaux to neck right now. If only we had a Hollande figure in this country twinned with a perceptive electorate!

The turnout in France was 80.5%, in our elections we struggled to get over 30%. Doesn't that show that democracy is very weak in Britain- what has happened, why are people do dis-engaged?!

"HURRAY THE LEFT IS RISING AGAIN" Just like it did in the UK in 1997 with the scenes of hysteria and jubilation that greeted Blair's election. And we know how that ended. The only silver lining I can see to this cloud is that a dose of Socialism under Comrade Hollande will almost certainly recruit more members for Mrine Le Pen.

F*ck the Mail for constantly going after his wife, talking about making her an "honest woman". Soon as they get flustered, out come the Victorian/Christian values, plus ça change. The "rottweiler" play on her name isn't even their own insult.

Doesn't Jonathan Harmsworth live in France? :?
