'Write letter to family about converting to Islam': Furious stepfather refuses to let his stepdaughter, 12, complete her homework after she is asked to pen them a note about becoming a Muslim
Mark McLachlan found the homework task in his stepdaughter's school planner
She was to write a letter to her family explaining why she has become a Muslim
He was furious and refused to let her finish it, saying it was 'wholly inappropriate'

The Mail have run a follow up piece on the above story:

'I've been called a racist and a bigot': Stepfather explains why he complained when school asked his girl, 12, to write a letter for homework about becoming a Muslim
Mark McLachlan's stepdaughter was asked to 'write about converting to Islam'
The 43-year-old stopped her worrying what she would find during her research
He says 'UK might turn into Islamic state' & doesn't want her to have false ideas
Since posting it online he has been inundated with abuse and is 'terrified'

He told MailOnline: 'My wife and I are terrified of the repercussions.

'Any time anybody says anything negative about Islam they are torn to shreds.

'I've been called a racist and a bigot, but I'm just terrified for my children and for the way this country is going.

'In 50 years time I can see Britain becoming an Islamic state and my children and grandchildren are still going to be alive - I don't want them wearing a niqab.'
'My stepdaughter is coming home talking about the Prophet Muhammad and halal meat saying Islam is the religion of peace.

'But if she watched the news and knew about all the atrocities Islam has caused all over the world, she would know it isn't the religion of peace at all.'
He added: 'When I saw this assignment in the planner, written by the teacher, you could have knocked me over with a feather.

'I told her she will not be completing it and she is more worried about getting detention.

'We send our kids to school to get a good education and use what they have learnt to have a good career.

'I have no problem with them learning about religions but I feel they should not be asking 12-year-olds writing to their parents about why they are converting.

'I just found the task wholly inappropriate.'
Mr McLachlan, who lives in Houghton-le-Spring, insisted he only complained because he is 'worried about the children of Britain'.

He said: 'I'm just worried about mine, yours and anyone else's children.

'They've eradicated anyone and anything that isn't Muslim in the Middle East, but they're taking over this country as well.

'I want my children to have an objective view of all religions.

'Education is about learning things not about brainwashing.'

Whether this couple are thoroughbred Biffers is difficult to say, even if their language is uncomfortable. Whatever, it is hardly isolated and certainly not as rare as the 37 Muslims in Houghton who are;
taking over this country as well.

Take the kids in to care, close Nissan, be done with it. Give these fuckers something to really complain about-

I agree with the stepfather. This is a step to far. I bet they wouldn't be asking Muslims, Jehovah Witnesses, Catholics to write a letter about converting to Christianity.

In my family it was known as "givin' you summat to roar about"

That link is something to behold, Kreuzy... ...the tiny little village in the Fens I was born in is more ethnically diverse than Houghton-Le-Spring.

Stepfather who refused to let stepdaughter do homework on Islam had shared anti-Muslim content online

by TellMAMA | Nov 10, 2017 | News |

A stepfather who refused to let his 12-year-old stepdaughter finish a homework assignment about converting to Islam had ‘liked’ various far-right Facebook pages and shared videos from ex-English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson days before the story went viral, it has emerged.
Various Facebook ‘likes’ of Mr McLachlan include Liberty GB, Infidels of Britain, United British Patriots, and the North East Infidels Sunderland Division. Other examples include For Britain, formed by ex-Ukip candidate Anne Marie Waters, InfoWars host Alex Jones, and the AIF English Lions.
The MailOnline and others were criticised last year for its coverage of a similar homework assignment for Year 8 students at a Guernsey school. This assignment was designed to test their knowledge, to write objectively, and reflect with empathy on how their parents would react to such a change, in a fictitious exercise. Teachers added the caveat that students were, at no point, converting to Islam.
