How much more impressive would it have been if he had gone to the meeting and come out, shaking his head regretfully, explaining that he was there to listen but nothing was said?

But I expect he had some important tilth to mulch.

Chuka Umunna has made the point that by refusing to meet May on a point he knows she is unlikely to concede, he is signalling that he is not interested in finding a way forward. Vince Cable, Caroline Lucas, and Ian Blackford all met May and suggested she needs to get the no deal outcome out of the equation.
At the same time that we're all volunteering for the (devolved, by the way) NHS?

Tell you what, rather than spending my time doing something I'm not very good at, how about I do some work at something I'm skilled in, the state taxes me on part of my earnings, and then the state employs specialists to do it? Is there a flaw in that that I'm not seeing? Is it because the Mail is in the pocket of people who neither want to volunteer nor pay taxes? Is that it?

Didn't Gove try this shite on not so long ago?
Yes. It was with that 'Clean for the Queen' campaign for the last big royal jubilee.
Yes. Not too sure how effective a gurning Gove and BoJo were.

I remember an article at the time by Toby Young about how he was going to organise a clean up of his local park, and - tee hee - give out Che Guevara t shirts to any reluctant lefties who turned up. Missing the point that a) if they turn up, they can't be that reluctant, b) disagreeing with or disliking him doesn't automatically make you a leftie, merely agreeable, and c) he could fuck off with his general Jumbo act and then fuck off some more.

Christ almighty. May could take a dump at the dispatch box and these idiots would still spin it as some sort of diplomatic triumph.
Do you mean dump actually on top of the despatch box?

Because she'd need to get up onto the table and squat right above the despatch box, with her bare arse pointing right at Jezza, and perhaps leaning on Andrea Loathsome's shoulder for support, to do that.

I just feel the need to get the mental image right.......
