And it isn't as if the Mail doesn't know where vigilantism can lead.
Three police officers suspended over failure to help man burned to death on estate after he falsely accused of being a paedophile

When I saw that story I was appalled. Not just by the fact of what happened, but by the responses - blame the police. Fair enough, they are culpable. But there was very little condemnation of the mob who set the guy on fire.

Probably because it's not that far a step from writing out poisonous crap online to standing in a circle shouting "Paedo! Paedo!" while your mates chuck on the petrol.

But...but...
Completely wrong for people to try and take justice into their own hands, however out legal system is entirely to blame for this. If people felt that reporting a paedophile would lead to their arrest and a strong prison sentence they wouldn't bother doing this sort of thing. Instead we see criminals of all kinds being given community service and a slap on the wrist. People are trying to protect their families and their communities, and sometimes they get it wrong. RIP to this poor man failed by the system.
These men were wrong to kill an innocent man. But they, like the rest of us, cannot trust our justice system to provide justice. They release real criminals every day, as quickly as they bail the guilty. And even the sentences are pitiful. Get your house in order to stop scum like this thinking they can do the judges job better themselves.
Vigilantism, the result of the Police and Courts not doing their duty. The Police for not being overly interested in finding the truth or at the very least doing more detective work, and the Courts for not handing out appropriate sentences

If I'm disappointed with the police, or if I have doubts about somebody, I can a) tell my kids to be careful, not bother or talk to strangers etc, or b) pour petrol on a man and set him on fire. See the difference?

Good job Eric!. These Kids should either be at school or at work; not on a building palce.

so they were trespassing and looked like criminals. they deserved everything they got, the builder didnt deserve jail. If we keep jailing people who do the right thing we will end up with a society of people that do nothing, and its happening fast.

As usual, tough justice doesn't apply to "us". Especially not our troops.

Don't sacrifice this man on the altar of political correctness: COLONEL TIM COLLINS believes the convicted Marine deserves some understanding
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... nding.html

Not quite sure how this has anything to do with "political correctness" but I think they're so desperate to get phrase in there that they don't care if it makes sense or not.

The civilian worker who discovered this video should have done the decent thing and pressed the delete button. Shame on him!

Stage a nation wide public protest, this is an absolute disgrace! War is not pretty - and what he did is NOTHING compared to what the Taliban do to western forces...

Once upon a time people strove to better themselves. Now the race to the bottom is global.

You know, I'm a bit sick of the way that Colonel Tim Collins has seemingly achieved Saint status on the back of one sub-Kenneth Branagh pep-talk to his troops.

Yes, the murdering marine deserves understanding, but for fuck's sake what he did was utterly beyond the pale.

Leniency doesn't really enter into it here.
