Johnson is the sort of person they feel should be entitled to behave like that. Khan isn't.

It was the same with the Kavanaugh SCOTUS confirmation hearing in the US. If a black man had been shouting and snarling like that, he'd have been portrayed as threatening and unstable. If a woman had been shouting and crying, she'd have been hysterical and emotional.

Either would be characterised as unfit for office. But a white man - especially a well-off one - can behave like that with impunity.

And seem to be mirroring a trend in cities across the UK.
Just England. Scotland has drastically reduced its murder rate in the last ten years or so. Wales and Northern Ireland don't have a knife problem as far as I know.

What they fail to grasp is that as London Mayor he is meant to represent Londoners. Londoners voted Remain. Londoners are diverse and generally more accepting of other cultures, on the whole. Londoners tend to be more liberal and Londoners are proud of London. So some cunt from Thanet screeching about him really doesn't matter. He doesn't represent them and doesn't need to try and pander to their Little Englander bullshit. Hopefully this is something he reminds himself of when he inevitably see's some of the vile abuse constantly thrown at him...often from people outside London.

There have been minor signs of increased knife crime in the cities of the south (I'm only talking about Wales here, obvs), but how much of this is local media "me too"ing, I really couldn't say.

Yes, although how long he'll last under the new editor is a good point for discussion. Even he's been saying that his heart's not in it any more, and all he's doing is recycling his "greatest hits". Then again every now and then he'll come out with some splendidly invective shite. He's like Joe Pesci at the end of Casino.
