So who has written this "devastating book", I wonder? A well known climatologist perhaps? Or possibly a politician on the political impact?
The Real Global Warming Disaster: Is The Obsession With 'Climate Change' Turning Out To Be The Most Costly Scientific Blunder In History? by Christopher Booker (Continuum £16.99).
Oh, that'll be why then. Basically a padded advert.
It's a brillaint expose of the scandal. I'd highly recommend it.
However why would you feel the need to repeat the same stuff in a newspaper column using your own book as the reference point? Sloppy journalism, I'm afraid.

Are you suggesting you see nothing wrong/odd in someone citing material from a book as evidence of their position when they also happen to be the author of that book?

At best it's a free advert in the guise of news/opinion. At worst, it's bloody stupid.

So quoting your own book and trying to pass it off as a column isn't slack journalism in your book? Journalists ought to at least try and write something original. Assuming the journalist in question is capable, of course.

Well we all know the scare mongers who set up the scam are largely Marxists types looking for a World Government.
For fuck's sake this is getting ridiculous, not to mention tedious.

Anything nice? I had a Chinese takeaway. It was rotten. Used to be a good place, but it's gone downhill under the Coalition of the ConDemned.
