Read a lovely article on Cracked about Star Wars, comparing the films to Santa. It goes like this:
When you're a kid, you love Star Wars/Santa, because it's your first taste of sheer escapism and magic. How does the force work, how does Santa get round the entire world? It/he just does, and we accept it. Then as we get older, we learn that they're actually comprised of all sorts of older traditions and sources, and are actually a fairly cynical marketing exercise, a sort of 'greatest hits' package. You curse yourself for ever being taken in, and mock those who still believe well into their adulthood. Then it comes round again and you see how captivated kids are, and it all makes sense and you see the point behind it all and you can enjoy it again.
Meanwhile, Piers Morgan is still a cunt.
"There ain't nothing you fear more than a bad headline, is there? You'd rather live in shit than let the world see you work a shovel."
