Critical friend, stress on friend. Nobody really thinks that the Mail would ever be actually in danger of undermining a Tory government, so if it runs the occasional piece that's less than flattering, they play the fair and balanced card when calling the Grauniad and Mirror out for being rotten lefties.
And as ever, maintaining that sleight of hand where their mission of giving voice to their readers opinions (in this case, perennial cynicism and mistrust of central government) that just so happen to be in sync with what benefits the editor and his friends.

Morgan has always been the newspaper version of Clarkson. 80% grade-A twat, but not so fucked up that they can quite stomach the most outrageous bullshit - and when those scenarios come up they tend to approach them in the exact same way as they approach anything else, which makes it look like a miraculous switcheroo.

It's the Churchill factor on a very small scale - a complete shitbag most of the time who happened to be the exact right person at the exact right moment in a very specific scenario.

Two tiresome twats shouting over each other is all I see. It's as tedious as that interview between Jacob Rees-Mogg and A N Wilson.

To think that the studios that once made Dad's Army and a myriad of fine drama and comedy now churn this out :(

It is funny though. I think it also gives a glimpse into the right wing gang of Trump. Dissension against the orange wotsit results in fury and attack. Piers is doing what he always has - protecting his own self interest. The controversy he got by supporting Trump worked for a bit in getting him publicity but he knew eventually he would have to change tack to avoid going down the Katie Hopkins route. Guiliani mirrors the thuggishness of his boss in making everything a personal attack. Piers is now viewed as an enemy for daring to question Trump so is labelled left wing media.
The whole thing is hilarious.

GMB is on ITV. They only made one fine comedy Rising Damp.
And do you know where the ITV daytime programmes are made...?
Any medium sized price room with soundproofing?

GMB’s Dr Hilary apologises after he was pictured without face mask

GMB host Piers Morgan jumped to Dr Hilary’s defence saying he too had forgotten to wear a mask at times, saying: “No one watching this can hand on heart say they haven't inadvertently broken a rule."
Did anyone ask the sanctimonious finger-wagger why he has spent most of 2020 calling people "inadvertently breaking rules" as he puts it, Covidiots, and putting them on his Twitter or highlighting them on his show for his followers and viewers to give a kicking to?
