I wonder if they feel the same about people wearing shorts in hot weather?
Tell em it was good enough for Monty's lads in the desert...

Anecdote from an 8th Army doc I watched the other night.
The informality of the dress code of the desert army was illustrated by this rare example of Montgomery's sense of humour:
When inspecting frontline troops unannounced, Monty's staff car passed a soldier who was naked except for a top hat. The soldier raised his hat and the General returned the 'salute'. The following day an order was issued, "The wearing of top hats is prohibited in the British army".

I'm sure many of you are aware of the new Right wing poster boy, Laurence Fox, after this appearance on Question Time. A pretty low level actor who's found some new fans among the far Right. He's been very talkative over the last few days and is certainly ticking many boxes. Apparently he would never date a "woke" girl. He dumped his last girlfriend because she praised the Gillette 'toxic masculinity' advert. Today he claimed he doesn't pay his BBC licence. Basically a walking stereotype but no fear, he'll fade away soon enough.

He is, however, really quite thick and doesn't know what chips are made from as shown here in this desperate attempt to be an edge-lord:
