A couple of days ago The Mail ran a sneery article about Wetherspoons not serving steak on their special 'Steak Night'. How they guffawed at this state of affairs and ridiculed Wetherspoon's guarded response that there were problems with a supplier.

What were the chances they'd stick their hands up and say Wetherspoons was quite right and apologise for the inference that Wetherspoons could not organise a piss-up in their own hostelries?

Not sure where to put this as the house price is relevant for once.

When people build houses that fall foul of planning regulations and the property is threatened with demolition the Mailites are normally mixed with their responses that fall into two categories:

1. A man's home is his castle, it's his land, he can do what he likes. Interfering jobsworths in planning departments. What harm is the so-called infringement causing.

or

2. Rules are rules, suck it up.

Number 1 is usually the highest rated response but not this time:

Family who spent £500,000 building their new home may now be forced to demolish it after council said the roof was TWO FOOT too high

Owner is facing huge repair bill on his new build home in Staffordshire
Councillors in Stoke have thrown out two retrospective planning applications
Planners complained of dormer windows in eaves and roof ridge is too high
Owner has a three-month stay of execution for talks to continue over home
