They're in a bind. On the one hand, it's Cliff, popular with the core readership and picked on by the hated BBC. On the other, they'd have been going through the bins faster than you can say "Mile End tube station" if they had landed the scoop. And if he'd been charged, let alone found guilty, they'd have been coordinating the mass album burnings with gusto.

Not only that:

They've enjoyed close relationships with coppers who'd spill the story for a brown envelopes - but Leveson ruined that for everybody.

It's also awkward that the force in question is South Yorkshire - once the paramilitary wing of the Thatcherites, and a force that the tories have ricked embarassment to cover for on several occasions.

The schadenfreude the Mail's enjoying at the expense of the BBC has been tempered by the restrictions the judge's ruling will have on the press reporting details about police suspects.
This post has been condemned by Jacob Rees-Mogg for using filthy forrin language.

It was thoughtful of them to put up a big sign showing the way to the negotiations. Obviously a legacy from when David Davis never bothered going.

Interestingly, although per capita mobile phone ownership has apparently peaked in the U.K, neither the illustrator or his editor has mentioned the impact of new technology on where people get their 'news' and opinion from nowadays, or how much it's fatally eroding the M*il's sales figures/profits. Funny, that.
