Having tried to get into Morrison's today, I can sort of understand it (ten minutes to find a space, couldn't find a basket, saw the queues at the tills and consequently fucked off empty handed): but isn't "the last turkey in the shop" a Viz euphemism?

Does it trump a rogue sausage?

Anyway, here's the Guardian's guide to doing Chrimbo without the hassle of being a Chrimbalist. Quentin perused and snorted before donning his Santa hat and heading pubwards...

Funnily enough, I've just discovered that Spike Milligan and the usual suspects did a show entitled The Last Turkey In The Shop Show on 23/12/1974: https://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/a97033f1089 ... 23e9e24bd6

The very day I first went trainspotting as a boy, incidentally.... :)

Selfridges unveils its CHRISTMAS shop in London a record 149 days before the holiday - offering £2K Christmas trees and David Bowie baubles

While the PC Brigade have, for the 2019th year in a row, failed to ban Christmas the message has been further diluted.
The Future Fantasy store, which launched on Oxford Street on Monday, will stock a £100 30cm-tall Santa Yoga figurine

Early shoppers were seen browsing the brightly coloured selection of baubles, including ornaments depicting Frida Kahlo and David Bowie.

Others depicted Father Christmas on a rocket ship and a surfing Santa in sunglasses, which retails for £14.
