We passed! Thousands of A level students find out their results - but the number with top grades FALLS for second year running

My daughter got her A level results this morning: 2 A*'s, an A and a B. She's a bit gutted about the B but has achieved the grades to read English at UCL which is rated number 1 for the subject.

Driving home, there was a phone in on the local BBC station with the inveitable "university of life" twats dominating the discussion. I turned it off. It was a fucking disgrace.

Toby Young's diving straight in over at the Telegraph blogs with his usual clap trap. I never read the Mail these days but I already know what it and it's legion of twat commentators think.

My daughter has lived and breathed her A levels for 2 years. Yet there are seemingly millions of people who are happy to dismiss her achievements as worthless and 'easy'. I tell you, the way I feel right at this moment, I'd run these fuckers over if I could.

Hearty congratulations from me, too.

I get a sense that these day-time phone-ins participants are often just a more active and engaged variant of the day-time telly audience. Their half-baked opinions often allude to why these are not people of any real influence and simply have nothing better to do.

You can safely ignore them.

There are some right miserable bastards on those comments, but this one... wtf:
FREE-STREAM EDUCATION v3.03: RADICAL TIME-TABLING: 2 Principles: Normal (like now) & Fast Lane (year ahead); MORE TIME on SUBJECTS a PUPIL LIKES.. Normal or Advanced Maths, English, Science (or advanced separate sciences) + Normal or ADVANCED (2x points, 1.75x lesson time) CHOICES, 10 points minimum.. IMPROVES STANDARDS. Can LOWER PUPIL-COUNT, FAIRLY.. The ADVANCED:: Can leave school at 16 with SOLID AS-Levels + GCSEs, Uni with a MASTERS thrown in (Scholarships & Sponsors). Upper 6 DROP-OUTS get SOLID A-Levels, Final Year Drop-Outs: a Bachelors.. Uni at 17? Problematic. 1st Uni Year at school? Some courses, 4 MUCH LESS ££! Retake a year (or some modules whilst working)? Possible. Work a year, SAVE UP? GOOD IDEA: Study &/or work in your chosen field.. OR B NORMAL & OK.. Welsh/Gaelic?, Spanish?French?German? VOCAB (not formal GRAMMAR, maybe at 9+) from 6 alongside English (Formal Grammar included) + VOTE [UKIP], Oppotunity-Missers.

And it's not the first time: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... twave.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Don't bother checking his commenting record - it's just what you'd expect.

Put into something legible, he seems to be advocating achievement-based progression, rather than age-based.
FREE-STREAM EDUCATION v3.03: RADICAL TIME-TABLING:

2 Principles: Normal (like now) & Fast Lane (year ahead); [so far, so good]

MORE TIME on SUBJECTS a PUPIL LIKES.. Normal or Advanced Maths, English, Science (or advanced separate sciences) + Normal or ADVANCED (2x points, 1.75x lesson time) CHOICES, 10 points minimum.. [no arts or technology? Pretty standard UKIP that.]

IMPROVES STANDARDS. Can LOWER PUPIL-COUNT, FAIRLY..

The ADVANCED:: Can leave school at 16 with SOLID AS-Levels + GCSEs, Uni with a MASTERS thrown in [utilising] (Scholarships & Sponsors).

VOCAB (not formal GRAMMAR, maybe at 9+) from 6 alongside English (Formal Grammar included)

+ VOTE [UKIP], Oppotunity-Missers.
Though I must admit he loses it somewhat at the end. And he's crazy.

Hmmm. Wonder what Private Si thinks he is achieving by repeatedly posting that guff?

Dunno about anyone else, but I can't even understand it.
