As noted somewhere else, Veolia has extensive waste incineration facilities which bring in a huge income. They rely on less, rather than more, recycling.

Binmen told to stop collecting rubbish from homes with long driveways on health and safety grounds in case they hurt themselves

The meeting of Craven Council was told that some driveways are between 50 and 100 yards long.
Existing rules already say that bins should be left at the end of driveways, but the new ruling means that refuse collectors can leave rubbish behind if it is not correctly placed

Mel, Ireland, Ireland
that is disgusting, it should be collected weekly
Aviator, Shenyang, China
Daily here in China and I do not have to pay a fortune in council tax, NORTHING [paid and all the rubbish abled to be recycled is also done daily. In the UK you get what you vote for, remember that when the elections come round again.

What exactly is council tax for? Repairing roads.... Oh they don't do much of that. Emptying bins... Nope, they seemingly don't like that either. Keeping street lights on? They're wanting to reduce them as much as possible. Where is the money going?

Public sector, innit? An explosion of state-sponsored jobs engineered by ZanuLabour. And when the State controls your money, it controls YOU. Think about it - public sector equals union-controlled services; unions control Labour party; State controls your income - it controls YOU. Wake up, people, PLEASE.

Well, a third of council tax goes to pay the gold-plated pensions, where those in receipt can walk out of one job, push their way round the revolving door, and take another job, collecting a golden handshake along the way. And now it seems that the Labour-run NHS in Wales is performing so badly that Welsh residents are travelling to England to take appointments from seriously-ill English people. The Welsh voted for Labour - they should now have to live with that decision, rather than depriving English people of their badly-funded NHS. The public sector needs sorting - urgently - and disinfecting to get rid of socialist freeloaders.

Not seen one of those for a while, he'll be gutted he forgot the Liebour though.

Well, I for one would prefer my local authority to ignore its statutory obligations to pay for education and social services just so that I didn't have to spend a couple of minutes each day sorting out the different types of waste my family creates.

Let me see if I've got this right. Food waste and recycling collection isn't being altered, it's just the miscellaneous bin for stuff that isn't biodegradable or recyclable. So where does a problem with vermin or odour arise? Barring houses with babies and therefore nappies, nothing is going into those bins but bits and bobs of scrap packaging that can't be recycled. I'd be shocked if I could fill my black bin in two months, let alone three weeks.

Ohh, I haven't seen a ZanuLabour reference in a while. Old-school, I like it. Surely it should be ZanuLie-bore though?
