Okay, old Maureen isn't actually a Daily Mail columnist (she's a piss-poor hack on a regional daily), but she easily could be.

Today, she has been holding forth on muslims, and especially muslims that are evil terrorists. For new readers, Maureen considers herself to have an exclusive inside track on muslims because she lives in an area where quite a lot of muslims live and has some muslim neighbours. She has, of course, no such inside track whatsoever.

Why aren’t the lunatic preachers, the mosque mutineers, the passive old imams all rounded up in times of terrorism and grilled until they can prove they are not implicated in treason?
So far, so tolerant. Read more from Mad Mo here :

Another problem, unnoticed at the time of high immigration but still prevailing, is that newcomers settled amid their own. Whole roads are occupied by families whose forbears (sic) are from the same villages and towns “back home”, and they brought fierce local traditions in their luggage.

If a male child goes astray here, everyone closes ranks. Evil festers through lack of outside air and lack of links to the white host community.
Nice.

And it's 'forebears'.

No turn left unstoned.
In the last war, men and women, even if they were British by birth, who might have allegiance to Germany were all interned. Simple as that.

Why aren’t the lunatic preachers, the mosque mutineers, the passive old imams all rounded up in times of terrorism and grilled until they can prove they are not implicated in treason?
Because you have to have some suspicion of guilt, other than mere racism, before you arrest and 'grill' people? Just a guess.

It's pretty nasty stuff.

Has it been reported?

She probably thinks she's being Churchillian.

It's the old 'during the war...' defence. We did it in the war and we won that. Thus it must be a good idea. See also Cameron last year or so, talking about tearing up rules and regulations because that's what we did in the war. Problem was, we didn't.

Forget Godwin in it's current form, it should really be extended to cover any egregious reference to anything WW2 related.

The notion that all are innocent until proved guilty is indeed gentlemanly, almost sporting, but when maniacs are toting guns and bombs, giving them the benefit of the doubt is suicidal.
To hold a tranche of British society responsible for the sins of its pariahs is unreasonable and cruel.
Not only is she horrible (as Abernathy said, she's considered herself the oracle on all things Muslim for years and absolutely abhors working-class whites) but she's arguing against herself.

Indeed.
We sell women short if we believe they “have a right” to dress, drink and behave like hookers, then equal right to scream like banshees when a man makes assumptions – that implies women lack the intelligence to understand consequence of action.

Regarding the first quote - I can only assume she is not familiar with the disaster that was internment in Northern Ireland in the early 70's. Let alone any further argument as to why her suggestion is a bad idea.

She's Irish herself, and I'm as certain as can be that she took part in Troops Out marches in the eighties (not a popular move in Birmingham back then), so she'll know about internment, which makes her piece all the dafter.
