Counting pigs?

I was once told that teaching was about casting imaginary pearls before real swine, so it might be fitting to finish my days keeping a lap chart for porkers...

Who gets to stand on the chair and how/why? I reckon you'd be brilliant at that, Mister A.
Especially if the piggies knock he chair away on the way round.

Looks like the honeymoon's over.

Riots, low ratings … where did it all go wrong for Emmanuel Macron?

Are the CRS really as bad as they were in the 80s?
Oh yes...

Seeing the behaviour of the CRS on the telly over the weekend, I thought that they were more restrained than I remembered them to be.

Then there are the cops in Greece (Syntagma and Exarchia) , Spain (Catalonia and anyone with a football scarf), ditto Italy and all those twenty-something paramilitaries in the East and the fash-enabling state employees who roam places like Chemnitz with impunity.

The Brexit riots haven't started yet - Spoiler: the water cannon were sold for scrap - but the British police seem to me to be more "od the people" than some would like to admit.

Scrap CFA Franc in W Africa (??)

I think that's a reference to France's former colonies having their currencies tied to the Franc/Euro with the Bank of France making certain credit guarantees.

Anyone who takes that list of mumbo-jumbo seriously deserves to be tear gassed.

Not everybody associated with these protests are like that. Some (maybe the Melenchon voters) are progressives objecting on a "make the rich pay for their climate change" basis. Though it seems a very bad idea to oppose fuel taxes until your own pet policy can be implemented. What'll happen is that the fuel tax rises get cancelled, and your new green deal doesn't show up. The overall Macron budget isn't actually very regressive, I don't think.
