My experience of (older) Cisco stuff is... not great.
I always wondered why it was so flippin' difficult to program.

Obviously lacked the polished walnut chassis prominent on many of your other gadgets.

Polished walnut cabinet, please!

No, my experience was of Cisco managed switches spending a lot of time contemplating whether or not they're actually a toaster at start-up, and whether or not the end user would really prefer waffles to toast.

Ah yes, Cisco IOS. As user friendly as a cornered rat. And yes Cisco managed switches seem to take a hell of a long time to boot. Personally I tend to use Hirschmann.

Hirschmann? I thought they made aerials and connectors?
They make network gear as well. Better known for industrial networking like control systems and substations. (The field I work in) They’re owned by Belden now.

Who isn't?! Belden own Grass Valley and SAM (Snell Advanced Media - which were formerly Snell and Wilcox, Quantel, Probel and Vistek after various takeovers) as well.

Because it's the inevitable extrapolation of thatcherism. No state, no societal obligations, no duty of care beyond lawsuits. Just people and families in perpetual small claims war.
