"Brian. Oh, Brian..!"

Thing is, whoever fights to sup next from this poisoned chalice needs to be shown these images. May pausing for breath, Miliband having his breakfast, Brown in a moment of exasperation (audio, granted) or Blair on a hot day.

This is his or her fate. The presses will roll the moment they step out of the mandated line.

Forget dead girls' grieving parents and soldiers not misbehaving. While grotesque in and of itself, that was all sooo last decade. The real threat is to the next PM - and the next one after that - and, ultimately, democracy itself when institutions can become humiliated and undermined by a malicious proprietor's proxy towering over the picture editor while the interns compete to deliver the top-bantz headlines.

This is not a new conclusion. In fact, it is as old as the hills and the among the reasons why Merk started this site.

Today though, has brought everything back in to sharp relief.

Yes, I know that she is the architect of her own downfall.

Yes, I know that sheer pig-headedness has made her reject every lifeboat.

And, yes, I know they did it to Miliband.

But this is just fucking outrageous bullying. Any cunt can sit there, rattling off a dozen frames a second to humiliate their prey. Snivelling cowards.

"Daddy, what did you do at work today?"
It's a very below the belt strike, and something I'd expect of Der Spiegel back in the day.

So now we have Schroedinger's Prime Minister.
Bitty anyone ?
I repeat, how are they any less unelected and unaccountable than the EU boogeyman that cretins love to target on social media and radio phone ins?

Because they're British.

Interesting piece by James Moore in the Indy, in which he makes the case for May being our worst-ever Prime Minister, and says we should not offer a shred of sympathy to her.

Well written polemic, and I commend James Moore for critiquing her time at the Home Office as well (which seems to receive the extremes of media attention, I seem to remember Home Secretaries under New Labour being frequently lambasted for rising immigration and yobbo crime whereas Theresa May had less pressure because she was openly hostile to the seemingly useless police and foreigners).
