If we were to re-open a complete folly (which wasn't down to The Good Doctor) I'd recommend the Wisbech and Upwell Tramway

Cameron lying through his teeth while campaigning in Wisbech talked about plans to reopen the Bramley Line to March. I suspect he had a list of nostalgic former rail lines he could namedrop on tour despite no plans existing to reopen them.

Jeeeeeeebus! ITN are running with this 'Northern rail powerhouse'bullshit.
There's some not bad stuff happening on rail in N England, but it takes time and it's concentrated (necessarily) on bits that are already busy. No problem with them doing some photo ops in hard hats and the media can give them modest plaudits for it. What I object to is getting a load of easy coverage by announcing "a fund". I wish they hadn't announced one, because the temptation to spaff will be all the greater.
