He takes a swipe at the government, along with lefty councils (what, all of them?), the militant health lobby (???), Jamie Oliver and various others. Then he recycles some old jokes and tries to pass them off as his own.

With your car driver head on, have you ever ranted at a town or city for sending you to a park and ride in order to pedestrianise their centres?
Lucky for him. For now, he won’t have to face the righteous wrath of shopkeepers in his Hertfordshire constituency, who are being forced out of business because his anti-car totalitarianism has driven away the vast majority of their customers.

McDonald’s will survive, but many already struggling independent caffs and restaurants will collapse under the bureaucratic burden.
Only if they employ more than 250 staff, I understand.

Yeah. It's disgusting how nobody ever visits Cambridge any more.

Park and Ride - ban it now!

'...an old-fashioned bacon banjo and a mug of workmen’s tea...'

Dickie, you're trying too hard. People are laughing at you.
They were, back in 2012.

Oddly, in my recent re-viewing of the excellent Bulman series, there's an episode where he refers to the 'ham and egg banjos' that he's ordered. These are specifically served in large, circular baps which do look like the body of said instrument. However, I suspect that Dickie boy is referring to a bog-standard bacon sandwich, which is not the same thing. Littlejohn is a hopeless try-hard. I rest my case.

AIUI the "banjo" bit comes from a fried egg sandwich where the yolk is unbroken ("sunny side up" as the Colonials refer to it) and upon biting into it, the yolk drips down your shirt; the "banjo" bit is the motion of your hand in trying to wipe the yolk away on your shirt.

Yeah, you hold the drippy bit away in your left while wiping/strumming with the right.

Get back to work you slags:

My fear all along has been that some of the more contentious decisions are based not on what is best for Britain, but what will protect individual politicians and their advisers when the inevitable public inquiry is held.
Stopped clock etc.
