Huge, and I mean you will seriously question if it was a tiny nuke, explosion on Beirut.

Be advised you will involuntarily let loose a profanity once you see this.

Quite breathtaking. I follow a few of the region's journalists on Twitter and one reported that her apartment had just suffered what appeared to be an airstrike.

The thought of that is bad enough but the unfolding and unfiltered footage on SoMe is not much short of apocalyptic. Poor souls, really.

It's another one of those moments, like 9/11 was, where you honestly wonder if you're watching a movie. Especially when you see the footage taken from a different angle where you can physically see the shockwave tearing the buildings to pieces a split second before it hits.

Poor buggers. Only 70 confirmed dead so far, but you'd expect that to have shot up by morning.

Against my better judgement, I delved into the rabbit hole of footage taken from nearby (and stopped when I realised I'd probably witnessed quite a few people filming their last moments).

Absolutely horrifying stuff. I expect the death toll to increase quite a bit and even then it'll be an estimate on account of the number of people vapourised by the blast. Not to mention all the poor sods that will require emergency treatment for glass shards in their eyes.

I'm not affiliated with the Lebanese Red Cross in anyway but they probably need any spare cash we can throw their way more than ever. Particularly as their main port is now unusuable and getting supplies/personnel from other countries is going to be its own challenge:
