Hopelly the "select group of vocalists" will be fronted by Billy Bragg and Stormzy. I can hear Fail/Excess readers' heads exploding already

The BBC are absolutely petrified of upsetting anyone.

As for all the whining, Proms viewers are fortunate it was still going ahead at all (although I suspect a lot of the moaners were just bandwagon jumpers who don't often watch Last Night OTP anyway). Taking a like for like by staying with music, Glastonbury was completely cancelled and people who had bought tickets last year and been really looking forward to going seemed to all take it on the chin. Other than understandable disappointment, I noticed a lack of whining and instead a look forward to next June's Glastonbury.

If one song for one year being sung without the words at the Proms makes an appearance on your radar of life's problems then you should consider yourself a very fortunate person.

The highest UK viewing figures ever is the 32.3m that watched the 1966 World Cup Final.

With so many people being concerned about the musical programme at the Albert Hall, I would expect Last Night of the Proms to easily eclipse that figure.

I was pondering the whooha over LNofTP and ask; who actually owns The Proms, as far as I can see, The BBC simply broadcast it. I assume the Albert Hall has a "Proms Committee" that selects the programme of music for the whole event, and that the sing-a-longa bit was just left to the last 15 mins by tradition and has no relevance to the preceding 4/5 days of music

“If you want to be an opinionated columnist or a partisan campaigner on social media then that is a valid choice, but you should not be working at the BBC.”

But it wont stop me inviting cunts like Liddle onto discussion programmes

I think we know the answer to that. He'll be a journalist freelancer or something.
