Lawyers claim knife attack at law firm was inspired by Priti Patel's rhetoric
On 7 September a man with a large knife entered a London law firm and launched a “violent, racist attack” that injured a staff member before the assailant was overwhelmed.

A confederate flag and far-right literature were allegedly found in a bag he was carrying. According to documents about the incident, police described the knife as a “weapon designed to cause serious harm”.

With no access to EU criminal databases this is a non-starter. Unless there was a reciprocal database access agreement in order for EU countries to apply the same rules. No more holidays on the Costa due to that conviction for receiving stolen goods or assault after that drunken night out. It will of course be waved for rich Cypriot and Russian crooks donating money to the Tories.
LONDON (Reuters) - Britain said it would introduce new rules from January to bar entry to people from the European Union with a criminal record, meaning those from the bloc would be treated the same as the rest of the world.
The powers will come into force from Jan. 1 when Britain’s informal membership of the EU ends and it no longer has to abide by the bloc’s rules on free movement.
“For too long, EU rules have forced us to allow dangerous foreign criminals, who abuse our values and threaten our way of life, onto our streets,” Home Secretary (interior minister) Priti Patel said.
“The UK will be safer thanks to firmer and fairer border controls where foreign criminals regardless of nationality will be subject to the same criminality rule.” https://t.co/NLhKCSwG6i?amp=1

He has a son called Sixtus. Bad Latin.
It's not classical Latin, but it's well established in Medieval Latin- two popes took the name.

Derivation here. I didn't know that it was unconnected with Sextus (sixth).

Looks like we've been able to bar the most dangerous for a long time. And Cameron's deal would have strengthened the safeguards.

Unfortunately not. But calling the defendants "ruthless criminals" whilst a trial is still ongoing is likely to have repercussions for the trial, if almost certainly not for the Minister.

It's not the first time she's done it, after all - it's not even the first time this year.
