Why wouldn't the whole world admire America and want to be like them?

Native burial sites blown up for US border wall

Native American burial sites have been blown up by construction crews building the US-Mexico border wall, says a lawmaker and tribal leaders.

Authorities confirmed that "controlled blasting" has begun at Arizona's Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, a Unesco recognised natural reserve.

Raul Grijalva, a Democratic congressman, called the destruction "sacrilegious".

The government failed to consult the Tohono O'odham Nation, he said.

Environmental groups also warn of the damage being done to the local underground aquifer, as well as to migrating wildlife in the remote desert region about 115 miles (185km) west of Tucson...

Remember when Trump threatened to blow up Iranian cultural sites?

Looks like he set his sights on something closer to home.

To build his racist wall, he's blowing up sacred Native American burial grounds without notifying local tribes.

This is wrong. https://t.co/rmrVlaCAZu

Is this legal?
The Trump administration has been able to build sections of the US-Mexico border wall on public land due to the 2005 REAL ID Act, which gives the federal government the right to waive laws that conflict with US national security policy.

In their bid to build the wall, the White House has waived dozens of laws - including ones that protected Native American graves, endangered species, and the environment...

What is it about BAME people that makes white American coppers act like cunts?

Six-year-old girl arrested at Florida school

olice bodycam footage released on 25 February has captured the moment a visibly distressed child was arrested at her school in Orlando, Florida in September 2019.

Ten-year-old in Houston, Texas accidentally shot by babysitter

A 10-year-old boy was shot by his babysitter as she attempted to take selfies while holding a gun, police in Houston say.

Caitlyn Smith shot the child in the stomach on Tuesday, thinking the weapon was unloaded. Police confirmed she is the child's aunt.

The 19-year-old has since been charged with injury to a child and serious bodily injury.

The boy is in a serious condition but is expected to make a full recovery...

..."The female indicates that she retrieved that weapon to take pictures, and in the course of taking pictures the gun went off and struck the child," he added.

"Very tragic situation, we see this quite a bit."..

Maybe USAnian babysitters should always be accompanied by a good guy with a gun, just to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen.

No, lefty hand-wringing libtards, the good ol' U Arse of A does *not* have a problem with guns.

A damning indictment of how Republicans approach democracy.

https://www.vox.com/energy-and-environm ... -democracy
In Oregon right now, a handful of white people from the far right are holding the state government hostage.

No, it’s not another armed occupation of government buildings, like in 2016. This time it’s a handful of Oregon lawmakers who refuse to enter government buildings, thereby holding the business of the legislature hostage.

It ought to be getting more national attention, if for no other reason than it perfectly encapsulates larger national political trends. It is like a snow globe, a perfect miniature representation of what the Republican Party is becoming.

In a nutshell, Oregon Republicans are exploiting an arcane constitutional provision in order to exert veto power over legislation developed by the Democratic majority, on behalf of an almost entirely white, rural minority. Five times in the last ten months, they have simply refused to show up for work, preventing the legislature from passing bills on guns, forestry, health care, and budgeting. The fifth walkout, over a climate change bill, is ongoing.

It is an extraordinary escalation of anti-democratic behavior from the right, gone almost completely unnoticed by the national political media. Nevertheless, it is a big deal, worth pausing to consider, not only because it is preventing Oregon from addressing climate change, but because it shows in stark terms where the national GOP is headed.

To begin with, let’s look at what’s enabling these walkouts and trace their history over the last year.

Of the many paradoxes of the nativist traditional American, this one puzzles me the most.

1. We need our guns and freedoms to prevent the king of England coming here and imposing laws on us.
2. The only rules worth following can be found in the Bible (Editor King James - of England)

Even during Dubya's reign, such conspiracy theory nut jobs like Joanne Wright would, at best, be found at very local levels with a rare occasion somehow getting through to a state legislative seat, and would otherwise be roundly mocked by the GOP at large.

Nowadays, they've pretty much hijacked the Republican party in the USA where the "moderates" have essentially been leaving or driven out in droves, the end result being Donald Tr*mp. (Sounds familiar?)

While there was a fringe "RINO" purge of centrist or liberal Republicans long before this, in parallel with a vocal anti-intellectual movement, IMO things started tipping over when Sarah Pailin was John McCain's VP partner for 2008. Batshittery & ignorance then became mainstream and a make of pride for a disturbingly large percentage of the US population.
