Corbyn will keep going forever because he doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong and is far too small a man to either listen to someone else’s opinion or even not do that but to keep his mouth shut and move on.

The same thing matters to him now as it always has - not what Jewish people feel, not what’s best for the Labour Party or the country, not being a distraction when the opposition should be focused on pushing the government to do better. The only thing he’s upset by is the suggestion that Jeremy Corbyn was less than 100% right.

Corbyn’s suspension was announced at about 1.20 pm. Too late for the lunchtime bulletins and maximum time to make the 6pm headline. Plenty of time for Corbyn to make a statement about his statement and dig himself further. He was reflecting widely held views of the members or something.

So, some predictions:
1. Corbyn’s “war cabinet” - being comprised of such lowlights as Milne and Len - will come up with fuck-all other than the same whining about how unfair it is
2. No other MP has resigned in support, and they’ve all been canny enough to say they want to sort it so the party can move on
3. If he is thrown out, Corbyn will go full crank within 6 months. At this point he might take a few of the dimmest bulbs with him such as Burgon.
4. If he isn’t thrown out, he will do a Ken Livingstone and keep on saying the same shit until he is, and then go full crank
5. By 2024, absolutely no one will give 2 shits about this apart from his most rabid supporters who have been found their grift income severely diminished

Some serious commentators are claiming this is a high risk strategy for Starmer. Sounds like a no-brainer to me. No one in the PLP is going to take a bullet for the old fool. I’d like to assume the leadership commissioned internal polling on how Corbyn getting the boot plays with Labour’s lost voters. Keir’s not a reckless risk taker but is a betting man who card counts the odds in his favour.
