Possibly time for a thread as he has been doing a lot of media over the past couple of weeks. With his Oxbridge accent, comes across to me as a kind of minor official from the glory days of the raj. Half expecting to see him appearing in a cricket jumper.

Here is his voting record.

Has one of the safest Tory seats in the country, Hague's old constituency. As hard right and coming from an ethnic minority background he certainly fits the current profile. I'm guessing we'll be seeing a lot more of him on the box.

Sunak popped up today. Sounds like he doesn't think No Deal at the end of the transition period is proper No Deal.
What, so he wants it immediately? Yeah, that'll work - Boris would be delighted to throw away the 11 month window of procrastination he has.

No deal is now ‘Australia option,’ according to Sunak this morning. “Free trade agreement should not mean following their rules,” he told a gormless Kay Burley this morning (KB’s alright when she’s done her homework). Sunak does look bright enough to know he’s talking bollocks.

Buzzword. As the points style immigration waffle proved, they think chucking 'Australia' into the conversation makes the issue at hand sound cool - you know, sun-kissed whiteys barbieing their lives away. Whether emulating a nation of immigrants enters into their thinking is perhaps a discussion they haven't really put a lot of thought into. No change there, then.

Who coined "Australia option"? Douglas Carswell?
Sounds like pure Cummings.

"Australia" sounds like something great, similar to the different Canadas and Norways.
The fact is that Australia has no trade deal with the EU.
So what Australia really means is "No deal, and it's on fire".

An Albania deal would be better that the Australia option but Matthew Goodwin can explain why its not; symbolism.

Also Australia has a series of bilateral deals and quotas but its tough to progress due to the need to be aligned to its regional Asian market.

If it wasn't for its mineral resources Australia would be an empty shithole full of poisonous critters.

I notice that Rishi turned up on the BBC breakfast news show this morning to be interrogated by seasoned political journalist Dan Walker! In the space of a couple of weeks Dan has interviewed Boris Johnson, Grant Shapps and Rishi Sunak. Dan asks them prepared questions but when they respond with dubious claims and statistics he lets them get away with it because he doesn't have the necessary knowledge base to challenge them.
