Is he filling a gap created by Littlejohn’s extended leave?
He has stumbled on an interesting point that coping with refugee logistics is a piece of piss compared to staging a large festival. Requisitioning a golf course and a caravan park in Lincolnshire would meet demands created by refugees.

He usually avoids race, immigration and refugees as I think he considers himself above such populist nonsense yet this was very much a case of letting the mask slip, showing that in reality, he's no better than Littlejohn and all of the other monsters churning out their hateful bile out there on the right.

You’d have expected Hitchens to play to his strengths now the Conservative Party is a moral vacuum.
